Is shingles considered a disability?

It is normally only a temporary illness, but it can get into the eyes and badly affect your vision or even cause blindness. My Mother had severe shingles as she became elderly and it did not get into her eyes, but caused severe pain where she had to go to the doctor for shots. It might be considered a temporarily severe skin disability as it can result in severe pain where you need pain shots and meds.
