What is a good way to match colors when making clothes?

I'm making a twill(probably) cloak for a renaissance faire costume. The main part of the cloak is going to be a forest green. I want to put a edge liner on it and I'm wondering what a good color would be for the edge. I was thinking about a red or maybe even a purple
