If you had two spare beds in your home, would you offer a friend this favour?

There happens to be two spare beds in my home at the moment. I have a friend who rented a room from me a while back and he asked me if a two of his friends could stay in my place for a week. They are visiting town and his place is already crowded. Would you let two 'strangers' stay in your home like this? This is a good friend and the only problem I had with him when he used to rent a room in my place was that I always had to remind him to pay me. At a certain point, I told him he would have to go as I didn't think it is acceptable for a friend to act in this way. I've told him it is ok for the two girls to stay for a week as guests. Do you think I am being over-generous or used? ps. he told me one time that people from the countryside were very nice as they invited you to their home and let you stay for free (he had been travelling & staying in B&B & this happened to him).
